Still a novice to my new home "Boise, ID", and to the game of fly fishing I was pointed in the direction of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River by the friendly and knowledgeable staff of Anglers . Just a couple hour drive north of Boise, the middle fork is loaded with beautiful scenery and crystal clear water, not to mention that its loaded with a bunch of breeds of trout.
As we are getting later in the season and the water levels are getting lower and the waters warmer we were instructed to use dry flies so we used a bunch of different hoppers and other foam based flies which all seemed to work. As we fished later into the day temperatures started to drop and light diminished. We changed our fly selection a bit to smaller flies such as nymphs, and small bug imitators. This worked ok but we didn't have nearly the same number of strikes as early in the day.
All in all a very fun trip and I can't wait to do it again. If you have any tips or comments please share them.
